Plastic Free… Are you up for the challenge?

Plastic Free July is a Global movement started by the founder of the Plastic Free Foundation, Rebecca Prince-Ruiz. Now in its tenth year, its aim is to help people be part of the solution to plastic pollution and millions take part; an estimated 250 million people from 177 countries took part in the challenge last year alone.

The great thing about Plastic Free July is it focuses your attention on the things that you can do, whether that’s at home, at school or within your local community and these changes don’t have to impact your life dramatically or cost you vast amounts of time or money to implement.  Fundamentally, it’s about changing our habits.

As consumers, we’ve become used to buying products in a certain way, but by getting us to look at the way we use plastic in our everyday lives, it’s easy to recognise that there is another way and not just during July.  According to Plastic Free July data an impressive 9 out of 10 people made changes that have become a way of life!

Changes can be big or small and the Plastic Free July website is a great source of information.  It’s packed with advice and inspirational ideas from other people that have already taken the challenge, check it out here… https://www.plasticfreejuly.org/  There’s also a dedicated YouTube channel with helpful videos to get you started.

I’m taking the challenge, will 2020 be the year that you do?
